Dr. Mitchell G. Cohen

Dr. Mitchell G. Cohen, our senior partner, has been with Bordentown Family Dental since 1991. He earned his DMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1984. Following graduation, he completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Pennsylvania and his Anesthesia Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He was an associate clinical instructor at the University of Pennsylvania until he returned to New Jersey. Currently, he is clinical adjunct faculty in the Burlington County College Dental Hygiene program.

Dr. Cohen has been a member of the American Dental Association since dental school. He is currently treasurer of the Southern Dental Society of New Jersey, the component society of the New Jersey Dental Association serving Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties and is a former editor of the Outlook and Bulletin, the monthly journal of the Southern Dental Society. A member of the Academy of General Dentistry for his entire professional career, he was awarded the prestigious Mastership of the Academy of General Dentistry, and award recognizing over 1100 hours of continuing education spread across all disciplines of dentistry in 2009. He is currently working toward Lifelong Learning and Service in this organization whose goal is to foster continuing dental education.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Cohen has been a member of the New Jersey Emergency Dental ID Team, a volunteer organization formed to assist in the event of a mass disaster. He participated in the World Trade Center and Flight 587 forensic efforts in 2001. He is also a participant in the Donated Dental Services and Give Kids A Smile programs. These programs, under the auspices of the New Jersey Dental Association, provide dental care to those who have limited resources but do not qualify for government assistance. In January 2009, he participated in a dental mission in Honduras.

A graduate of Highland Park High School, Dr. Cohen grew up in Middlesex County and attended New York University for his undergraduate studies. He currently resides in Voorhees, NJ with his wife and two sons. When he is not in the office he is working toward his black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
